The hollow sound of the ball hitting the DecoTurf at the United States Open Tennis Championships in Queens echoes loudly in the tense silence of the packed stadium as the players serve, volley and race after the ball. At the edge of the court, a seemingly staunch island of calm, stony faced, stands the ball person, but he is coiled and ready to run and grab an errant ball, hand a towel to a sweaty player, or toss another ball to be served. more
Sunny Atlantic Beach Club was the setting on Tuesday night for a gala event which was hosted by Kulanu’s Young Leaderhip Division. All in attendance enjoyed music by Azamra DJ, a BBQ, drinks and music at the ocean. Some guests won fabulous raffle prizes! more
On Monday, August 13th, Chana Schwartz will be taking a simultaneous leap into history and into the future, joining with her family and almost 400 other Jews on a Nefesh B’Nefesh flight to become olim chadashim, new immigrants to Israel. more
The raw wild beauty of the Negev desert where our Forefathers walked is currently home to about fifteen Israeli towns, often with marginally affiliated populations living on a low socio-economic level. The youth in these areas struggle with identity, education and social issues. more
With minimal fanfare and their trademark humor, warmth, emotion and uniqueness, the inaugurating class of Midreshet Shalhevet continued on its untrod path and graduated as their first senior class this past Wednesday evening at their current home in Temple Hillel in Valley Stream. more

Gabrielle Lovett, of Woodmere, is HAFTR’s Class of 2012 Valedictorian. At HAFTR Gabrielle was Captain of College Bowl, President of Model Congress, President of the National Honor Society, and participated in the following: Math Team, Science and Engineering Club, Science Research, Volleyball, Food Delivery to the Needy, Intel Competition. She plans to major in Chemistry at Columbia University. more
