Last week, DRS Menahel Rabbi Kaminetsky, and Assistant Menahel Rabbi Storch traveled to Eretz Yisroel to visit over 100 DRS graduates who are studying for a year in Eretz Yisroel. On this annual trip, the DRS graduates enjoy spending time with their Rabbeim, continuing the strong Rebbe-Talmid relationships that DRS is so famous for. more
This week HAFTR had the pleasure of hosting the 25th annual Scott Satran basketball tournament. The HAFTR Invitational Scott Satran Memorial Tournament is a bittersweet occasion. It brings together students from eight different yeshiva high schools to commemorate a HAFTR alumnus, Scott Satran, who passed away 25 years ago from cancer at the age of 20. Every year this event bonds the HAFTR community and seven other schools together in remembrance. more
As a senior in Rambam Mesivta, there are unfortunately only a few more months left to savor before I continue on life’s journey, wherever that may take me. B’ezrat Hashem, next year, and perhaps the year after next, I will be in Israel “The Holy Land,” studying in Yeshiva before I continue on to college. Although there is much I can write about Yeshiva in Israel and College, what I would like to reflect on is my High School experience, specifically, certain decisions I made as a high school student that have had long-lasting implications on my life. more
Ever since the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979, relations between Iran and the West have increasingly deteriorated. From the US embassy hostage crisis to the recent reports of Iranian forces shooting down US UAVS (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) allegedly crossing into Iran over its shared border with Afghanistan, relations between Iran, the West, and allies of the West have come to a breaking point. more
Just mention the name JJ Goldstein to anyone of any age at Young Israel of Woodmere, and immediately the utterance of his name will evoke a smile. Whether you’re talking about his participation in sports leagues, or chesed activities, such as Tomchei Shabbos, for which he was honored by the shul, JJ is involved with boundless energy and enthusiasm. Most notable is JJ’s participation in Young Israel of Woodmere’s weekly Shabbos maariv minyan where JJ helps conduct the Havdalah service. more
the message that we are fortunate to live in a Medinas Chesed and owe a tremendous amount of hakarat hatov to this great country. On the most fundamental level we must serve as loyal citizens and be meticulous in our observance of the laws of the land. Ideally, we should be model citizens and our moral and ethical conduct should be beyond reproach. We have the obligation and opportunity to create a tremendous Kiddush Hashem amongst our neighbors. It was with that message in mind that a group of 15 students from Rambam Mesivta visited a veteran’s hospital in Queens New York. The students volunteered their time to visit elderly soldiers who have served our country during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. more

Chanukah Chesed If you walked into DRS this past week, you would have noticed Chanukah preparations in full swing. Exciting flyers detail all of the exciting student activities that are scheduled to take place over Chanukah. These events include a toy drive for Ohel families, nursing home visits, raffles for the Ossie Schoenfeld Memorial Fund, a Chinese auction to benefit Od Yosef Chai, and a Chanukah party for local public school kids. more
