The Third Annual Simply Manischewitz Cook-Off will feature six finalists competing for a $25,000 grand prize on Feb. 13 at the New York Marriott Hotel.

The six top recipes — chosen from thousands of entries — were judged for taste, ease of preparation and creativity. A panel of food connoisseurs will select the contest winner. Among them will be Joy Devor, of Far Rockaway, the winner of the 2008 cook-off for a recipe she called Fantastic Flounder.

Though the finalists include both kosher and non-kosher consumers, all ingredients in the competition must be certified kosher and will be overseen by Rabbi Yaakov Horowitz, representing the Orthodox Union’s supervision of all Manischewitz brands. Rabbi Horowitz also serves as rav of the Bostoner Beis Medrash in Lawrence.
