More than 80 posters were on display at the Touro College 3rd Annual Research Day, an event that showcases original research by faculty and students while celebrating the contributions Touro has made in basic sciences, clinical practice, social work, law, economics, mathematics, and public health.

“Our faculty and students conduct research in a variety of fields and are involved in numerous cross disciplinary and cross cultural studies as well,” said Dr. Joseph Indelicato, chair of the Touro College Research Collaborative, a faculty group of professors who conduct research in the medical and health sciences fields at Touro College.

The free day-long event, held at Touro’s Harlem campus, which houses the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM) and Touro College of Pharmacy, capped off a series of events held recently across Touro’s New York campuses.

All deans, faculty and students were invited to submit posters of their research. Over 150 attendees from numerous Touro schools and programs participated in the event, including from pharmacy, medicine (TouroCOM and New York Medical College); the School of Health Sciences (physician assistants, occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, speech and language pathology); business; social work; education; law; biology; economics; mathematics; and psychology.

After the formal lectures, participants visited the poster presentations and discussed the research with the students and faculty. “The studies presented involved research across the world,” said Dr. Piotr Kozlowski, dean of research at TouroCOM and chair of the Touro Research Council. “It was wonderful to connect so many researchers. Events of this kind are of tremendous value in promoting teamwork, fostering mutual understanding, and strengthening research.”
