Cedarhurst - Young Israel of Lawrence-Cedarhurst and Bnei Akiva North America are happy to announce the launching of a new Bnei Akiva chapter in the Five Towns. The chapter will be open for 4th and 5th grade boys and girls of the entire community. Activities for boys and girls will be separate and will be led by our Bat Ami girls, Alona and Nofar. Cedarhurst - The Beis Medrash of Cedarhurst is introducing a Flexible Morning Learning Program, which will take place every Monday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. There are shiurim and chavrusas in Chumash, Gemara, Halacha and Chovos Halevavos. Woodmere - The Young Israel of Woodmere is hosting Arnold Roth as a scholar in residence on Feb. 27- 28, Parshat Terumah. His speech on Shabbat morning, Feb. 28 will be: "Why Do the Media Keep Getting it So Wrong on Israel? Insights from the Trenches." At 5:20 p.m., he will speak on "Civil Society Confronts the Terrorists: Are We Winning or Are They?" North Woodmere - The Young Israel of North Woodmere invites the community to hear Dr. Jay Bielski, the oldest son of the WWII Partisan hero Zus Bielski (played by Liev Schreiber in the movie "Defiance"), on Sunday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m. During the darkest hours of World War II, the Bielski brothers achieved the impossible by transforming persecution and violence into an incredible tale of affirmation and survival. In the woods of Belorussia, the Bielski Partisans built an elaborate village for rescued Jews. The Bielskis saved 1,200 men, women , and children, easily the largest rescue of Jews by Jews during World War II, and now their story has been widely publicized in the acclaimed movie "Defiance."

This program is especially designed for memory enhancement and socialization. The cost includes a full range of therapeutic activities, morning beverage, dessert, and a kosher lunch. Lynbrook - Congregation Beth David has a series of ongoing events.
