The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Israel rose to 10,878, the government reported on Sunday, with 103 fatalities as a result of COVID-19.

Of those hospitalized, 174 were said to be in serious condition; 123 were intubated, and 155 were in moderate condition. Some 1,388 have recovered from the disease, according to the latest Health Ministry figures.

Israelis age 60 and over account for some 75 percent of the serious COVID-19 cases in Israel while half of Israeli coronavirus fatalities are over age 80, data shows.

Also on Sunday, the government approved emergency regulations mandating that all arrivals through Israel's Ben-Gurion International Airport enter immediate state-controlled quarantine. The Defense Ministry has been tasked with the full responsibility for the matter, which until now fell to the Health Ministry.

Saturday evening saw ministers impose a lockdown on neighborhoods in Jerusalem with high coronavirus infection rates. The order went into effect on Sunday at noon until April 15.
