Where to bring, and burn, your chametz

It’s time to burn the chametz! And in the Five Towns, it’s both easy and safe.

Here’s the plan from Sanitation District 1:

•Trash may be left at the cub in a securely tied bag (not in a can!) for pickup on Friday.

•To request a last-minute pickup, call from 7 am to noon on erev Pesach only: 516-239-5600.

Sanitation trucks also will be at the following drop-off locations to accept your remaining chametz, from 7 am to noon:

•Cedarhurst and Lawrence LIRR stations

•YI of Woodmere, 859 Peninsulana Blvd.

•Temple Hillel, 1000 Rosedale Rd., NorthWoodmere.

Here’s where to bring your chametz to burn (enclose it in paper not plastic!).

•Lawrence LIRR parking lot, 7 am to noon, courtesy Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Dept. and Lawrence Dept. of Public Works

•Woodmere Fire Department, 20 Irving Pl., Woodmere, 6:30 to 11:30 am. It’s the department’s 16th annual chametz burning.

Stop eating chametz by 10:52 am, and burn chametz no later than 11:55 am.
