The Jewish Academy, Suffolk County’s only Jewish day school, will hold its Chanukah Curriculum Celebration on the theme of “Light Over Darkness” this Friday, Dec. 23.
As part of the celebration, students will be performing an original play about the well-publicized actions of thousands of residents of Billings, Montana who placed menorahs in their front windows after a rock was thrown through the window of a Jewish family.
The play will be the highlight of the celebration, which will also feature many student projects that apply the light and darkness theme to the sciences, math, literature and history. This is just one part of the cutting edge Jewish Academy curriculum, based on interdisciplinary integration as well as differentiated instruction.
The public is welcome to attend on Friday, from 10 am to noon, at the school on the grounds of the Suffolk Y JCC, 74 Hauppauge Rd., Commack. For more information call 631-368-2600.
