Whether or not proposed developments deserve community acclaim or censure, the community deserves to know what’s being planned before it’s presented with a fait accompli. Government entities — often charged with permitting or blocking developments — should share a full picture with the public before it’s too late to effectuate changes or to pull the plug entirely.
Regrettably, this has not been their common practice.
Without full and early disclosure, the public has every reason to be disrustful and to presume that developers and their government monitors are hiding key information.
