Oceanside - The Young Israel of Oceanside is hosting Rabbi Dr. Edward Reichman as a scholar in residence on Parshat Beshalach, Feb. 6-7. Rabbi Reichman will give three lectures on medical issues. Friday night's presentation will focus on "The Anatomy of Halakha: The Understanding of the Human body in Rabbinic Literature." The lecture begins at 7:30 and will be preceded by Shabbat dinner in the shul, at 150 Waukena Ave. The Shabbat morning drasha will be on "When Fathers Become Mothers and Mothers Have Udders: Medical Halakha for the 21st Century." North Woodmere - The Young Israel of North Woodmere is hosting Dr. Judah and Shayna Goldberg as Scholars-in-Residence on Shabbat Parshat Beshalach, Feb 6-7. Dr. Goldberg will speak at Friday night at 8:00 p.m. on "Evolution and the Nature of Faith." On Shabbat morning, Mrs. Goldberg, a Yoetzet Halacha, will deliver a lecture on "Inspirational Pragmatism: The Role of a Yoetzet Halacha" following Mussaf services. At 3:45, she will offer a shiur exclusively to women on "Frequently Asked Questions and How Their Answers Can Help Make Your Life Easier." Israel - Scholarship applications are now available for the 2009-2010 academic year for those planning to spend the year pursuing Jewish Studies in Israel. The Alisa Flatow Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the family of the late Alisa Flatow who was killed in a terrorist attack in Kfar Darom, Israel on April 9, 1995. Long Beach - The Young Israel of Long Beach will hold its annual Scholarship Concert on Motzaei Shabbat, Feb. 21 at 8:30 p.m. in the YILB Social Hall, 120 Long Beach Boulevard.
