Jewish schools react to Minneapolis shooting

Organizations involved with religious schools in New York State issued the following statement following Wednesday’s tragic events in Minneapolis, Minnesota at a Catholic school.
The statement, signed by Teach NYS, the Orthodox Union, and Agudath Israel of America, was also signed by the interfaith EPIC Coalition, NYS Council of Catholic School Superintendents, and the NYS Islamic School Association.
The New York nonpublic school advocacy community mourns the tragic loss of life at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. The thoughts and prayers of our diverse faith communities are with the victims and the Catholic community.
But it’s clear thoughts and prayers alone do not protect students. As the school year approaches, we will continue to work with our partners in Albany, New York City and throughout the state to ensure that students at all schools receive the needed security to protect them from hate and senseless acts of violence.
Together we mourn the victims, stand against hate and work toward protecting New York students.
