Israel's security cabinet voted early Tuesday accept — and Hamas initially at least said it would reject — an Egyptian true proposal that was to go into effect at 9 am local time (2 am New York time).

Shortly after the deadline passed for the start of the ceasefire, says Hamas fired three rockets at Israel, according to Israeli military officials.

The military said the rockets were fired at empty lands near the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon, causing no casualties or damage.
