HANC’s chesed teams at work in LI, SI and Brooklyn

Posted

Ninth and tenth graders at the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County in Uniondale participated in the school’s annual Pre-Rosh Hashana Chesed Day.

Girls traveled to Brooklyn to assist at the Masbia Soup Kitchen in Flatbush; boys went to Staten Island to assist in a cleanup of the Hebrew Free Burial Society Cemetery at Silver Lake, clearing leaves, twigs and other debris from the cemetery grounds.

Boys who are Kohanim were unable to participate in the cemetery cleanup and instead accompanied Rabbi Nafi Orlofsky (also a Kohain) to the Five Towns JCC to assist in the Holocaust Survivors Program. They helped serve lunch to the senior citizens and exercised and schmoozed with them.

The day’s activities were organized by Rabbi Aharon Friedler.
