Agudah national convention

Jewish Europe exhibit

J GREENSTEIN GALLERY, located at 417 Central Avenue in Cedarhurst is hosting documentary photographer Ahron Weiner, who will open his exhibit “Memorial Wall: Remnants of Jewish Europe.” Weiner will discuss his travels around 20 sites in Europe, chronicling their Jewish history. Day of Jewish learning

YOUNG ISRAEL OF KEW GARDENS HILLS, located at 7011 150 Street in Queens, is holding a day of Jewish learning with an author and a rosh yeshiva. Rabbi Moshe Bamberger will be discussing his forthcoming book “Great Jewish Speeches” at 11 a.m. He will be followed by Rabbi Azarya Berzon, the senior rosh yeshiva at Touro’s Lander College for men, who will discuss “Is our culture Jewish?” Light refreshments will be served at this event, which is cosponsored by Queens Jewish community council and the Lander College. Poetry of Yehuda Amichai

CENTRAL QUEENS YM YWHA, located at 67-09 108 Street in Queens, is hosting Pultizer Prize-winning poet Philip Schultz for a workshop on the work of the great Israeli poet, Yehuda Amichai. Schultz is the founder of The Writers Studio and former director of New York University’s graduate creative writing program. The event begins at 1:30 p.m. with a suggested donation of $6. Hebron Fund Dinner

THE HEBRON FUND, which supports the development of the Jewish community in Hebron, is holding its annual dinner at the New York Hall of Science, located at 4701 111 Street in Queens. This year’s keynote speaker is Fox News commentator Mike Huckabee, with a video presentation by Rep. Allan West of Florida. Chanukah toy drive
OSSIE SCHONFELD MEMORIAL TOY FUND is holding its annual toy drive at the home of Judy & Robbie Schonfeld, located at 850 Broadway in Woodmere. In partnership with the medical clowns of Lev Leytzan, the toys will be distributed in orphanages, hospitals and homes in Israel. Neighborhood watch

BAYSWATER CITIZENS PATROL, a newly formed volunteer organization is seeking local residents to participate in its neighborhood watch. There are three shifts between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. This is not a vigilante group. Members will be driving around the neighborhood reporting any suspicious activity to the police.
