There’s no fair like HANC’s state fair

The Fifth Grade State Project at HANC’s Samuel & Elizabeth Bass Golding Elementary School, in West Hempstead, culminated in a wonderful State Fair! Fifth Graders were very excited to display their research papers which included information about their state’s economy, natural resources, government and tourist sites, along with other materials representing their state.

From Massachusetts to Texas to New Jersey to California to Alaska and Hawaii, each state was well represented by the students. Students dressed up in their state’s team jerseys, wore ski parkas and leis and proudly wore “cheese hats.”

The students’ display tables were incredibly creative and included food grown and/or produced in their state including strawberries, blueberries, pretzels, Coca Cola, chocolate, salsa, coffee and pineapple. They brought in key chains, pencils, brochures and many other items to represent the industries and tourism found in their states.

The parents, grandparents and students who visited the fair learned a lot and had a wonderful time.
