Lawrence - The Par Group's Samuel Levine Memorial Golf Classic will be held on Monday, August 18 at the Seawane and Rockaway Hunting Club in Lawrence, to benefit Sunrise Day Camp, the only day camp in the nation for children with cancer and their siblings. Plainview - The Plainview-Old Bethpage Library will host a knitting circle on August 19, and September 2 and 16, from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Learn to knit or crochet and enjoy pleasant conversation as you work. Bring worsted weight yarn and either #8 needle sizes or a size "J" crochet hook. Oceanside - The Friedberg JCC will be hosting a lecture entitled "Out National Elections: The Great American Drama of 2008" on Wednesday, August 20 at 2:00 p.m. Dr. Herbert Rosenbaum, Prof. Emeritus, Political Science, Hofstra University will explore the issues surrounding this year's national elections. Oceanside - The Friedberg JCC is offering several day trips during August. On Wednesday, August 20, there will be a trip to Bally's Casino in Atlantic City with casino cash givebacks, bagel breakfast, movies, raffles and more! Register early to reserve a spot, at a price of $50. On Thursday, August 28, take a trip to see "Over the River and Through the Woods" at the John Engeman Theater in Northport. Lawrence - EndTheMadness announces its fourth annual Lawrence Shabbaton, September 12-13, Parshat Ki Tetzei, at Congregation Beth Sholom, for singles aged 22-30. The cost is $35 per person. Our hosts look forward to having us join them for meals in a natural, relaxed setting for a truly enjoyable Shabbat. Attendees will be joining their host families for both Shabbat dinner and Shabbat lunch in groups of six (three men & three women). On Shabbat afternoon there will be a scheduled activity (TBA), followed by Seuda Shlishit at the shul and a Melave Malka event.
