A Magic Carpet Ride: Celebrating the Jews of Yemen

at the Museum of Jewish Heritage—A Living Memorial to the Holocaust

New York, NY— On Sunday, April 28, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust will present A Magic Carpet Ride: Celebrating the Jews of Yemen, an afternoon that will feature the Sephardic rhythms of the band Asefa and a taste of the distinctive cuisine of the Jews of Yemen.

A century ago, approximately 50,000 Jews lived and thrived in Yemen. While that population has all but vanished, the Jews of Yemen were well known for their special traditions, customs, ceremonies, art, music, and dance. Many of these unique traditions are still celebrated and practiced today in Israel and the United States.

Tickets are $18, $15 for students/seniors, $12 for members. Tickets are available online at www.mjhnyc.org or by calling the Museum box office at 646.437.4202.
