Long Beach celebrates

The Young Israel of Long Beach integrates the entire community in its Chanukah celebration, acknowledging the service of the barrier island’s kosher food establishments that are under the supervision of South Shore Vaad HaKashrus.

On each night, a specific store is designated to host the candle lighting and subsequent festivities.

A huge menorah, dedicated last year by Berel Newmark Z”L and his wife Shellie, is brought to the site and 50 to 100 community members gather around to listen to a Torah message prior to the lighting of the menorah, followed by festive singing.
