An unusually heavy snowfall blanketed Israel this week, closing roads and stranding commuters, leading Jerusalemites to open their homes for Shabbat to thousands stuck on the icy roads. Knesset ministers including Naftali Bennett and Eli Ben Dahan helped free cars from the snow, and used their jeeps to transport women to hospitals to deliver their babies. Ben Dahan hosted four families in his home for Shabbat. Bennet brought fresh pita to communities that did not have bread delivered since Thursday.
