It’s Kaminsky, Miller, Zeldin, Rice in LI wins

Democrat Todd Kaminsky, who filled an open 9th state Senate District seat in April, won a rematch against Republican Christopher McGrath. Kaminsky, of Long Beach, drew 70,821 votes (52%) against 65,122 votes (47%) for McGrath, an Inwood native and Hewlett resident.

In the 20th Assembly District, first-time candidate Melissa “Missy” Miller of Atlantic Beach, Republican, defeated Long Beach Councilman Anthony Eramo, Democrat (52% to 46%), to fill the seat vacated by Kaminsky when he was elected to the state Senate.

In the 22nd Assembly District, Michaelle Solages (D-Elmont) won re-election over Republican Robert Bogle (67% to 33%). Another incumbent, Assemblyman Brian Curran (R-Lynbrook), defeated Democratic challenger Travis Bourgeois.

In state Senate District 7, Republican Elaine R. Phillips defeated Adam Haber (52% to 48%).

Rep. Kathleen Rice (D-Garden City) defeated Republican challenger David Gurfein (59% to 41%) and  Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-St. Albans), whose district includes Inwood, Elmont and parts of Valley Stream, was elected to a 10th term over Republican Michael O’Reilly (85% to 13%).

On the North Shore, Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin defeated Democrat Anna Throne-Holst (59% to 41%). Democrat Thomas R. Suozzi defeated Republican Jack Martins (53% to 47%, with 94% reporting) for the Congression-al seat being vacated by retiring Democratic Rep. Steve Israel.

Hempstead Town Councilman Anthony D’Esposito, Republican, was elected to represent Council District 4, defeating Democrat Douglas Mayer.
