Individual teshuva and national teshuva

Rav Yehuda Alkalai (1798-1878) distinguished between individual teshuva (repentence), in which one strives to improve oneself in all areas, and national teshuva, in which the nation, as a unit, returns to its land.

Indeed, the latter precedes the former, a process which we have been privileged to witness.

Rav Kook (1865-1935) took this a step further; he did not distinguish between the two…

Rabbi Noam Himelstein studied in Yeshivat Har Etzion and served in the Tanks Corps of the IDF.
