The Jewish Star is a 22-year-old independent newspaper and website committed to high professional standards, serving diverse Modern Orthodox communities in Metropolitan New York (Long Island, Queens, Riverdale, Westchester, and Manhattan’s Upper West Side and Upper East Side).

It is a member of the Richner Communications family, a 100-employee company that is a leader in digital marketing and in-person events. Richner publishes the Pulitzer Prize-winning Riverdale Press and dozens of community newspapers, websites and shopping guides on Long Island, and maintains its own printing operation, with offices in Garden City and Riverdale.

 

Editor (May 2024)

The Jewish Star’s new editor will be responsible for expanding local news coverage, recruiting and managing staff and freelance contributors, and editing and enhaning material from The Star’s wire services — all while maintaining the highest Jewish and journalistic standards.

This full-time in-person or hybrid position ($45k-$60k) offers Jewish holidays, vacation, health insurance, 401k and more.

Candidates should have news reporting and editing experience, an understanding of what interests Modern Orthodox Jewish communities, and a drive to excel in a professional, collegial environment.
