The Five Towns Community Chest is once again planning its annual Youth Board basketball tournament. Lawrence High School has proudly hosted this great event for the past 15 years. Unfortunately the Lawrence gym is not available due to Hurricane Sandy and is currently being renovated. This year HAFTR has come to the rescue and extended their hospitality by offering to host Chest’s tournament at their brand new, state of the art sports complex. more
HAFTR students have been very busy the last several weeks with many exciting events. A major event was the 23rd Annual Yeshiva University National Model United Nations (YUNMUN), in which HAFTR students represented the countries of Mongolia and Belgium. more
With Chanukah as a backdrop, the timing was extremely apropos of the event, as HAFTR was illuminated with excitement on Tuesday night for the ribbon cutting of the brand new state of the art Neil Steuer gym, dedicated by Sherry and Joel Weiner. more
HAFTR Lower School students welcomed six Torah scrolls into their home with song, dance and prayers. more
This year HAFTR Middle School implemented the Olweus Bully Prevention Program. Last year, the HAFTR Olweus Bully Prevention Coordinating Committee, composed of administrators, support staff, teachers, and parents underwent an intensive two day workshop given by a certified Olweus trainer. This September, the Committee provided an intensive one-day training for all HAFTR Middle School Staff. more
Consistent with the new year, HAFTR Middle School ran a pre-Rosh Hashana food drive to help out the local JCC food pantry. more
They gained a reputation locally for scoring goals on the ice. Now, Dan and Michael Karp are helping fellow Five Towners score in a much different arena, and assisting them in reaching their goal. more
With minimal fanfare and their trademark humor, warmth, emotion and uniqueness, the inaugurating class of Midreshet Shalhevet continued on its untrod path and graduated as their first senior class this past Wednesday evening at their current home in Temple Hillel in Valley Stream. more
Several HAFTR eighth grade students spent much of the year taking part in a unique and incredible program, entitled Names Not Numbers. more
For the weekend of Shabbos May 12th, the CAHAL 8th grade class in the HAFTR Middle School traveled to the Catskill Mountains for a shabbaton. The highlight of the weekend was an amazing Chesed project on Friday. The boys had the opportunity to be part of the wonderful Mitzvah of donating shoes to needy families in Eretz Yisrael. more
