Dr. Henry Cohen of Woodmere will become Dean of the Touro College of Pharmacy next Jan. 1, Touro President Dr. Alan Kadish announced.

Cohen, who will serve Touro in a consultant capacity until then, has had a distinguished career in pharmacy. Currently Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Long Island University Pharmacy and Chief Pharmacy Officer for the Department of Pharmacy and Director of Pharmacy Residency Programs at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, Cohen established one of the premier clinical pharmacy and residency programs in New York State.

He is Past President of the state’s Council of Health System Pharmacists and Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Pharmacy Practice.

As Dean, Cohen will support the mission of the College of Pharmacy in educating and training pharmacy practitioners and pharmaceutical scientists and discovering and disseminating new knowledge in the clinical and pharmaceutical sciences.

“As a clinical pharmacist and longtime advocate for the profession, I am excited by the opportunity to have a significant impact on pharmacy education and the practice field and to help students prepare for rewarding careers,” Cohen said. “My goal is to provide an educational experience that includes active learning, exemplary pharmacy practice clerkships as well as collaborative research and scholarship opportunities with faculty who are at the vanguard of science and practice.”
