Shalvhevet Shabbaton

Posted

Over Shabbat Parshat Bechukosai, Shalhevet held its end of year Shabbaton in the Five Towns. Students from Cedarhurst, Lawrence, and Woodmere graciously opened their homes for their friends from other neighborhoods for a fun filled weekend.

Shabbat began with a beautiful Kabbalat Shabbat at Rambam Mesivta where the girls harmonized beautifully as they welcomed Shabbat. Faculty members and their families joined the students for a delicious Friday night seudah. Following dinner, the girls took part in a lively tisch as they sang together with their teachers.

The students then heard from Rabbi Matt Schneeweiss, Chumash and Mishlei teacher at Shalhevet, who shared his story of his conversion to Judaism. Shabbat morning the girls ate lunch by their hosts and then visited different faculty members who held open houses.

The students were able to bond with their teachers over snacks and games for a relaxing afternoon. Each grade then had Seudah Shlishit at the home of a different teacher.

The students heard Divrei Torah from the teachers as they munched on scrumptious homemade food. Motzei Shabbat the girls headed back to Rambam for a bonfire in honor of Lag B’Omer. They sang, danced, and roasted marshmallows to cap off a wonderful weekend!
