Girls from 15 schools around Long Island, Queens and Brooklyn visited Midreshet Shalhevet High School on Sunday, Oct. 11, to see the amazing Shalhevet for themselves.

Everyone gathered into the overflowing ballroom to begin the annual open house.

Shalhevet ninth-grader Avygayl Zucker began by portraying her love of the school after only one month! She spoke about how easy Shalhevet made the transition to high school and how the start of high school was better than she imagined it would be. She then introduced Assistant Principal Shaindy Lisker, who spoke about what the true Shalhevet girl: exemplifying their midot, chesed and ahavat Yisroel.

Tenth-grader Hadassah Fertig and twelfth-grader Bella Weiss raved about Shalhevet’s extra-curricular activities, including sports, mock trial, school play, art and more.

Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Zev Meir Friedman said Shalhevet’s was a small school by design and that it does not fit a specific mold. It’s school that is warm, nurturing, and inspires individual growth, that encourages girls to pursue any profession they choose while adhering to a Torah framework, he said.

College Guidance Adviser Jennifer Morey displayed the school’s impressive SAT and ACT scores and discussed how Shalhevet helps each student select the right college for them. Eleventh-grader Sarit Perl and twelfth-grader Meira Nussbaum conveyed the school’s outstanding AP and elective courses and expressed their appreciation to Shalhevet for allowing them to challenge themselves academically. They also mentioned how the office of Principal Esther Eisenman is always open and that she finds the time to address the needs of each young woman.

Menahelet Eisenman then concluded the speeches by expressing how remarkable all of the girls in Shalhevet are — from their impressive SAT and AP scores, to the top notch colleges and seminaries to which they are accepted, and their true love for all of Am Yisroel.
