North Shore Hebrew Academy nurtures young minds at 2 Great Neck locations

Posted

The North Shore Hebrew Academy is the Great Neck community’s Modern Orthodox yeshiva day school, serving students from all over Long Island and Queens.

Embracing the finest aspects of Jewish and Western cultures, of Torah and madda (secular studies), NSHA encourages students to develop a personal commitment to a life of Torah and mitzvot in the modern world, and foster a love for Am Yisrael, Torat Yisrael and Medinat Yisrael.

•The elementary school, encompassing toddler through grade 5, is located at 16 Cherry Lane in Great Neck.

•The Middle School, grades 6 through 8, is at 26 Old Mill Road in the Great Neck Synagogue, where the school began 60 years ago. Classes throughout the grades are heterogeneous and coeducational.

The NSHA Early Childhood program establishes a foundation of learning in a warm, nurturing Jewish environment. In a play-oriented environment, children learn social skills plus pre-reading and pre-writing literacy, which lay the foundation for their future academic and social success.

Skilled and nurturing teachers create a developmentally appropriate environment that allows children to learn, thrive, develop and feel confident about their abilities.

Early Childhood students become independent learners, explore their Jewish identity, and practice personal creativity and expression. The integration of learning enables children to understand the world around them through the arts, literature, and oral expression. The curriculum is enriched with many specialty classes, including yoga, music, computers, science, physical education and library visits. The enrichment program includes an iPad lab that allows students to explore the world beyond the school walls while teaching early computer literacy.
