Second graders at the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway received their first chumashim last week. They performed songs highlighting their love of Torah and pride in becoming the next generation of talmedei chachomim. Together they recited a shehechiyanu and held their chumashim for all to see.
The party continued as students and their families engaged in interactive activities, with students personalizing their chumash covers. They played a Torah game using iPads, recorded in writing their thoughts about this special day, and looked inside a Torah scroll.
On returning to school the next day, second graders were treated to the Tzivos Hashem Sefer Torah Workshop, learning the intricate process of writing a sefer Torah.
