Daniella Saffioti and Yishai Romanoff were married on Monday night at the Young Israel of Lawrence-Cedarhurst. The Jewish Star has written about Daniella on several occasions, most recently two weeks ago in “From Carlos and Gabby’s to G-d, Part 2” in which she thanked members of the community for supporting and helping her before, during and after her conversion to Judaism.

The following account of the nuptials is excerpted from an online essay by Azriel Ganz, an occasional contributor to the newspaper, who blogs under the name MOChassid.

Last night I attended one of the wildest weddings I’ve ever seen. It was organized from soup to nuts by Nicole Gleitman, who runs the Claire Kamchi Hachnassat Kallah Fund. (You can contribute to her amazing efforts by sending checks to 128 Willow Road, Woodmere, NY 11598).

Providing the ruach were the young men from the senior class of DRS (including some members of the just-crowned hockey champions) and the young women of the senior class of SKA. And, the boys doubled as waiters!

To say that they rocked the place would be an understatement (it’s good to be 18 and have endless energy; on the other hand, I held my own for a soon-to-be 55 year-old).

The classes had basically “adopted” the young couple. They made the kallah a beautiful bridal shower (which we were privileged to host at our home: I was banished but came home at the tail end) as well as a Shabbos Kallah that, I understand, was equally beautiful.

Many of the non-HALB guests were either not frum or not Jewish. It is fair to say that none of them had ever seen anything like it (come to think of it, neither had I). A HUGE kiddush Hashem.

Kudos to the hanhalah (administration) and kids from the schools. It was really something special.
