The Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls welcomes Bluma Drebin as its new principal.

Drebin shares SKA’s commitment to academic excellence and mission of nurturing and empowering young women to maximize their strengths while taking personal responsibility for their learning and growth.

She spent the last 20 years at YULA Girls’ High School in Los Angeles, since 2010 as principal of general studies and previously as Judaic Studies department chair.

A proponent of ongoing teacher training, Drebin has served as a professional development instructor and recently presented at the Prizmah Educators’ Conference as an Avi Chai participant in the Better Lesson program for personalized professional development. She will guide the SKA faculty in continuing to develop and incorporate 21st century learning strategies such as blended learning, flipped classrooms and differentiated instruction while modeling new learning experiences for teachers and students alike, in her own tanach and Mathematics classes.

Drebin received her Bachelor of Arts at Hebrew Theological College and earned her Master of Education degree in School Administration from the New England College.  She is the recipient of the 2006 Milken Family Foundation Jewish Educator Award and helped create the Schlesinger Genesis STEM Academy at YULA. She is a student-centered innovator who inspires trust and confidence in students, parents and faculty.

SKA is proud that Drebin is joining the SKA administration led by Head of School Helen Spirn, along with associate principals Elana Flaumenhaft and Deena Kobre, Director of Religious Guidance Elisheva Kaminetsky, Director of Student Programs Rabbi Yosef Zakutinsky, and Assistant Administrator Sandi Pomerantz.
