The confirmation of Betsy DeVos as secretary of education was applauded on Tuesday by the Orthodox Union and Agudath Israel of America.
The OU said it believes DeVos will help “empower parents with the resources and choices to ensure their children receive the best education they deem fit for their children.”
Agudath said it “looks forward to continuing to work with Mrs. DeVos and with stakeholders from across the educational spectrum to create and implement policies that benefit every child in America.”
“Support for public education should include the entire public, including parents who seek for their children an educational alternative to their local public school,” Agudath said.
“We look forward to working with her to ensure all American children have access to great schools and the opportunity to realize their G-d-given potential,” said Nathan Diament, OU’s executive director for public policy.
