6,000 foodies at Kosherfest taste what’s coming to market

The first bite of a Nomoo Ginger Slap cookie packs a perfectly spiced punch and leaves you craving more. That’s exactly what the new Bucks County-based cookie company was hoping for and the reason its dairy-free cookie won ”Best New Baked Good” at Kosherfest 2014 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, NJ.

Six-thousand people attended this year’s Kosherfest, an event that provides exposure for new products and connects manufacturers, distributors and buyers. For many mainstream brands, Kosherfest is a chance to publicize their entry into the kosher market. Dufour Pastry Kitchens, for example, has been making high-quality, all-butter products for years but never had certification until this year. And for smaller new companies like Nomoo, Kosherfest is a venue at which they can develop connections and spread the word.

Three-hundred-thirty companies were represented.

Opportunities for product publicity extended beyond the world’s largest kosher trade show, explained Elen Bahr, Marketing and PR representative for Nomoo. Participants have discovered that attending a variety of industry events scheduled around Kosherfest can prove to be equally rewarding.

When kosher food blogger and Woodmere resident Melinda Strauss of Kitchen-Tested.com founded the Kosher Food Bloggers Conference three years ago, her goal was to create a network with other kosher bloggers who could help each other navigate the challenges of seeking success on the web and in social media. The conference, held at the NYU Chabad, focuses on education, bringing in experts in branding, food photography, social media and product branding. Nomoo’s recognition of the crucial role that food bloggers play in product promotion fueled its sponsorship of the conference.
